Description: hardbound book (roughly 8 inches x 5 inches), Early Jackson, with red cover and gold text by Romaine Aten Jones (1873-1963) of Jackson, published in 1942. In the author’s words,”This little book is the outgrowth of a manuscript originally prepared for the Women’s Literary Club of Jackson, Ohio. That organization was very gracious in its reception of the paper. Since that time, many friends have volunteered additional and interesting information, an the author hopes this second effort will be as generously received. Though making no claim to literary excellency, she has sought at all times to attain historical accuracy.
The author wishes to thank all those who have shown such friendly interest in this volume. Especially does she acknowledge the aid rendered by and the kindly criticism of V.W. Barnes of the faculty of the Jackson High School.”
Inside this volume is handwritten pencil cursive E.C. Hurst family. Also notated in black ink printed that the Hurst family lived at 207 Portsmouth St. from approximately 1940 to 1980.
